Nana's Boys

On the morning of his 30th birthday, Amari (David J. Cork) is struggling internally. Without a career or sense of purpose in his life, Amari knows it’s time to make some decisions, especially because his long-term partner Q (Jared Wayne Gladly) has seemingly got everything figured out. Not only is he on track to become the youngest partner at his law firm, he’s also found time to plan an elaborate soiree to celebrate both his promotion and Amari’s birthday. The day takes a turn when an explosion places New York City in a mandatory lockdown and Amari and Q are forced to remain in their apartment until further notice. While they wait it out, they grapple with the fragility of their partnership, the memories and unexpressed feelings that could shatter them forever or help to finally heal their wounds. Writer-director Ashton Pina has crafted an insightful, complex, sensual—and quite moving—tale of a Black gay couple teetering on the brink.

A Q&A session featuring director/writer/producer Ashton Pina will follow the screening.
