Chicago's Trans Visibility Pageant

Life Is Works will hold its first annual Chicago Trans Visibility Pageant 2022-2023. This is an amazing opportunity for transgender/nonbinary people to showcase their talents and win up to $3000 in cash prizes. It is also a night to celebrate trans identity and activism with Awards for 8 of Chicago’s most prominent transgender community members highlighting their contributions. The event will take place at the Kehrein Center for the Arts from 7-11p with a VIP reception from 5:30p to 7p CST. General Admission is $25, VIP tickets are $65 and the Contestant Entry Fee is $75. All attendees must be fully vaccinated and masked, regardless of changes to local or federal mask mandates.

Each year on March 31, the world observes Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) to raise awareness about transgender people. TDOV is a day to celebrate the lives and contributions of trans people, while also drawing attention to the poverty, discrimination, and violence the community faces. Only about 20% of Americans say they personally know someone who’s transgender and media portrayals are overwhelmingly harmful. Transgender people who are 4 times more likely to be discriminated against in hiring, healthcare, housing and criminal justice must also face these daily stigmas. Life Is Work has created this pageant to combat these harmful stereotypes by highlighting the beauty and success of trans people in Chicago.

Life is Work and its colleagues are hosting the Trans Visibility Pageant to raise awareness on COVID-19, HIV, Prep, and ending the Transgender Non-Binary TGNB homeless issue in Chicago. This is a gathering of the community and a night of transgender/queer entertainment in celebration of trans leaders and their contributions to the community. COVID guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shall be followed.

Contestant Registration form available online.

Tickets $25-$65.
