On Saturday, March 14, 2020, Valerie Scheinpflug, better known as DJ Psycho-Bitch, and Darlene Jackson, better known as DJ Lady D (Chicago), will kickoff their anniversaries of becoming professional deejays by headlining an entire night of back to back (B2B) 4xTurntable sets of dance music at Smart Bar. The party, "35/25", is aptly named for the number of years both have been spinning, respectively. #FBF Scheinpflug, a DJ of notoriety since 1985, and Jackson met as Jackson was getting her start in the Chicago house music scene in 1995. According to Jackson, "I used to watch Psycho & Teri Bristol with pride as two women who commanded the dance floors at Crobar and Shelter. They were two of the most revered DJs in the city playing for thousands of people nightly. When I began playing out, I asked them if they would mentor me and they agreed." smartbar Chicago will sponsor the auspicious event during their annual Women's Month program, "Daphne", which highlights womxn and non-binary identifying persons within the dance music community during the month of March. Psycho & Lady D look forward to exploring the art of music and painting the dance floor with tunes new and old from their extensive repertoires for the entire seven hours. Imagine similarly, the historical exhibition by Warhol and Basquiat as they displayed their seminal collaborative pieces at the Tony Shafrazi and Bruno Bischofberger Gallery, and made history in New York in 1985. To commemorate the event, photographer Lori Sapio recreated images of the two DJ's in a similar style to Warhol and Basquiat's promotion. 35/25 at Smart Bar takes place Saturday, March 14, 2020.
