The Rolfe Pancreatic Cancer Foundation and the Lustgarten Foundation present the ninth annual DASH for Detection, a 5K walk/run that raises funds for early detection pancreatic cancer research. Participants, volunteers and supporters will enjoy the beautiful lakefront while supporting a crucial cause, remembering loved ones and celebrating the progress being made in the fight against this disease. DASH for Detection is a family-friendly event featuring music, snacks, face painting and a post-race Kid’s Sprint. All routes are handicap and stroller accessible. Register at: www.DASHforDetection.com. The Rolfe Pancreatic Cancer Foundation is a Chicago-based nonprofit with the mission of being a catalyst for the early detection and ultimate cure of pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer death in the U.S., with a five-year survival rate of only seven percent – the worst of all major cancers. Sadly, the timeframe from diagnosis to death is often very short with little warning. However, early detection can significantly impact survival rates for this deadly disease, and there is still a drastic need for an early detection test. The DASH for Detection is a great way to provide hope for the future by increasing funding for early detection pancreatic cancer research and raising awareness.
