Today we face a critical and vast knowledge gap in the areas of health, wellness, and disease progression for women. Friends of Prentice (FOP) is working in partnership with Northwestern Medicine Prentice Women’s Hospital to close that gap by funding innovative and leading-edge research and clinical initiatives that benefit the lives of women and infants in the Chicago metropolitan area and across the globe. FOP hosts one signature event each year which serves as the organization’s primary fundraiser. FOP is pleased to announce its 33rd annual fundraising benefit, themed Casablanca, will be held on November 3, 2018 at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel in Chicago. Board president Cheryl Skender, alongside event co-chairs Meghan Gill, Erica C. Goldman, and Donna Socol will welcome over 400 of Chicago's business and philanthropic leaders at this year’s highly-anticipated event. The black-tie gala will feature a gourmet dinner, live and silent auctions, dancing to the music of TC Squared, a video presentation highlighting the groundbreaking work Friends of Prentice funds, and more. Hot-ticket live auction items include an exclusive Seabourn Mediterranean Cruise, an exclusive private villa in the Cayman Islands, a golf getaway in Kohler, Wisconsin, and an escape to the Four Seasons Resort in Punta Mita, Mexico. "For decades, Friends of Prentice has provided crucial seed money to brilliant clinicians and researchers who are shaping the future of women’s health care,” said Cheryl Skender, Friends of Prentice board president. “Our mission is propelled forward each year by people of all ages and backgrounds coming together to support the innovation and groundbreaking research happening at Prentice. Join us for a memorable evening that never fails to delight, inspire, and make a tangible difference for women and infants in our community and beyond.” Since 1983, Friends of Prentice has raised over $20M and awarded grants to more than 80 researchers and clinical programs. In 2017, Craig Garfield, MD, MAPP, and Young Seok Lee, PhD, were awarded the largest single award in FOP’s 32-year history to further develop their Smart NICU2HOME app, a groundbreaking initiative designed to support parents with newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Another standout FOP grant recipient, Emily S. Miller, MD, MPH, levered her recent funding to create the COMPASS program, an integrated care model that re-imagines pre- and post-natal mental health care. FOP’s annual grants initiative has funded projects in the areas of gynecologic oncology, mental health, heart disease, disparities in access to care, diabetes, HIV, uterine and pelvic medicine, genetic biomarker research, home health care outreach and more. Funds raised during the Benefit go directly to research, education, and patient care programs at Prentice. For information and tickets to Casablanca, please visitwww.friendsofprentice.org/gala
