Advocacy and Policy: How to Create Change

As part of the UP Center's educational outreach efforts, Mike Ziri from Equality Illinois will be presenting during 2018 Pride Fest. Mike Ziri is the Director of Public Policy at Equality Illinois. Ensuring that state laws affirm LGBTQ people is key to building a better Illinois. Mike will talk about useful tools to advocate for policy change as well as how to have an effective meeting with your legislator. He will also discuss recent policy trends and actions that impact LGBTQ people at the state and federal levels of government and proposed legislation such as the Inclusive Curriculum Bill.
