Big Gay Ice Cream joins Nico Osteria during Chicago Pride. The gold-star duo behind New York City’s cult-favorite Big Gay Ice Cream shops, Douglas Quint and Bryan Petroff, are teaming up with Chicago’s buzziest rising star Pastry Chef Leigh Omilinsky (StarChefs Rising Star Pastry Chef 2018, FSR’s 40 Under 40, Jean Banchet Best Pastry Chef of the Year) in celebration of fundamental human rights and to make Chicago Pride Weekend (6/23-6/24) cooler than ever before. Big Gay Ice Cream and Chef Omilinsky have combined sweet-genius forces to bring an exclusive, one-weekend-only-array of guilty pleasure summer treats (like heavenly Dirty Banana ice cream, Double-Rainbow Swirl Macaron ice cream sandwiches and fruity tequila-dunked freeze pops) to the traditionally coastal-Italian restaurant, Nico Osteria (1015 North Rush Street) — befittingly nestled in Chicago’s Famed Viagra Triangle. The weekend's dessert line-up will be modified to include dishes such as the following: Dirty Banana: Caramelized banana and brown sugar ice cream with a cacao nib biscotti. Bump and a Shot: Pepper Coke Sorbet served with a shot of whiskey. Apricot Gobbler: A mini pie crust filled with a scoop of roasted vanilla bean ice cream, topped with a spot of bourbon and apricot-infused whipped cream. Rocky RoadhouseTM Croissant: Inspired by Big Gay Ice Cream’s mainstay flavor, Omilinsky transforms Rocky RoadhouseTM into a fluffy croissant, showcasing made from scratch almond-crusted pastry filled with chocolate chunks and marshmallow. Double Rainbow Swirl Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich: Blueberry balsamic swirled sweet-cream ice cream, sandwiched between two rainbow macarons and coated with Trix cereal. Out & Proud Pops: A choice of made from scratch raspberry, coconut or mango flavored freeze pops, submerged in a shot of tequila.
