North Shore Pride Fest

To kick off Pride Month, Celebrate Highwood is “showing its pride on the north side” at its 6th Annual North Shore Pride Fest on Saturday, June 2nd throughout Downtown Highwood. The full day of activities will feature a Pride Family Picnic, Family Friendly Drag Show and Taste the Rainbow (adult only) Pub Crawl. Conveniently located within walking distance of the Highwood Metra Train station, North Shore Pride Fest welcomes people of all ages from around the Chicagoland area for a full day of fun, celebrating diversity. Noon - 2pm - Pride Family Picnic in the Park at Everts Park (130 Highwood Avenue); families are invited to bring their picnic baskets and blankets for a day of fun, games, bounce house, ice cream truck, and live music in the park. 5-6pm - At 5 p.m. the party moves indoors for the Family Friendly Drag Show at 210 Live Restaurant & Lounge, which will also be the starting point of the Taste the Rainbow (adult only) Pub Crawl. 5pm-bar close - The Taste the Rainbow (adult only) Pub Crawl will visit 6 stops throughout City of Highwood. Kicking off at 210 Live Restaurant & Lounge, each location will serve a different Van Gogh Vodka mixed drink inspired by a different color of the rainbow; 5-6 p.m. – Family Friendly Drag Show at 210 Live Restaurant & Lounge, ¬210 Green Bay Road – Red Honey Pomegranate 6-7 p.m. – Ballaro, 214 Green Bay Road– Orange Mango Tropical Screwdriver 7-8 p.m. – Santi's Gardens, 324 Green Bay Road – Yellow Citrus Fizz 8-9 p.m. - The Humble Pub, 336 Green Bay Road – Green Mojito 9-10 p.m. - The Toadstool Pub, 327 Waukegan Avenue – Blue Skies a La Ella 10 p.m. to close - Legendary Wooden Nickel, 444 Lake View Avenue – Purple Açaí-Blueberry Lemonade and ‘End of the Rainbow’ celebration with DJ Versage. “Van Gogh Vodka has been a longtime supporter of the LGBTQ community and is proud continue its partnership with Celebrate Highwood for the 6th Annual North Shore Pride Fest,” says Norman Bonchick, Chairman and CEO, 375 Park Avenue Spirits. “Van Gogh Vodka is also the longest standing supporter of True Colors Fund, which works to help end homelessness among LGBTQ youth and promote equality.” Be The Match bone marrow registry will be on site during the Family Friendly Drag Show at 210 Live Restaurant & Lounge and at the End of the Rainbow celebration at Legendary Wooden Nickel, offering anyone, between the ages of 18-44, the opportunity to possibly save the life of a patient, most often suffering from blood cancer. Joining the registry is easy, requiring a consent form and fast cheek swab. Only 1 in 430 people who join will ever match a patient. Unlike blood donation, the bone marrow registry welcomes everyone in general good health, regardless of sexual orientation.
