Fall Fundraiser Supporting STEM Education for Young Women

The changing colors of leaves, shorter days, and crisp air are all scientific signs of Fall. Celebrate the change in seasons with Girls 4 Science, a nationally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to exposing girls in Chicagoland to quality science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs, at the fourth annual Fall Fundraiser on Thursday, October 12th The event will feature keynote speaker President and CEO of Honeywell UOP Rebecca Liebert, one of Chicago’s leading business women in STEM with a doctorate in chemical engineering. Tickets are available in advance for $100 per person on the Girls 4 Science website, and include appetizers and an open bar. Proceeds from the event will support Girls 4 Science initiatives including weekly STEM sessions hosted throughout the Chicago-land area, field trips, science camps and much more. ABOUT GIRLS 4 SCIENCE Established in 2009 by Executive Director Jackie Lomax, Girls 4 Science is a nonprofit organization dedicated to exposing girls in Chicago ages 10-18 years old to opportunities in STEM. Its mission is to focus on developing skills, self-esteem, awareness as well as relationship building that will help girls overcome barriers that may prevent them from achieving greater success in STEM careers. It is Chicago's only all-girls science initiative to provide instructors in a state-of-the-art laboratory. Free hands-on enrichment programs are offered during six-week Saturday Science Academies at two of Chicago's City Colleges and St. Francis University in Joliet, in addition to field trips, mentorships and scholarships to 12th graders. ABOUT REBECCA LIEBERT Rebecca Liebert is an accomplished business woman who holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Kentucky, a doctorate in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. In 2016 Liebert was named the president and CEO of Honeywell UOP, a leading supplier of process technology, catalysts, engineered systems, and technical and engineering services to the global petroleum refining, petrochemical, and chemical and gas processing industries.
