Singer, rapper, dancer, actor, director, AMERICAN IDOL sensation, frequent RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE judge and advisor, and YouTube superstar with millions of followers, Todrick Hall adds documentary subject to his ever-lengthening list of achievements. Last year, Hall launched his most adventurous project to date: a full-scale, original musical called “Straight Outta Oz,” a remake of THE WIZARD OF OZ combined with facets from Hall’s own biography. Cameras intimately capture Hall and his team planning the recording, videos, and subsequent tour as he concurrently writes biographical songs about growing up gay and black in Texas, his extremely close but sometimes contentious relationship with his mother, as well as an erotic and deeply painful torch song about his first gay relationship. Looming deadlines and budgetary constraints working against them, Hall and his team press on, striving to overcome all obstacles to achieve Hall’s most thrilling creation in this dazzling portrait of a young artist.
