Join Navy Pier for Chicago’s largest Pride celebration outside of the Lakeview neighborhood. Navy Pier’s 2nd Annual Pier Pride is set to return on Saturday, June 24 with a full day of Pride activities along the lakefront. Free and open to the public, this family-friendly event will occur all day Pierwide. Part of the celebration will include Navy Pier welcoming back The NAMES Project's AIDS Memorial Quilt. Activities and Events: - Starting at noon, Pier Pride will kick off with a fitness class at the Wave Wall, followed by Story Time with Drag Queens presented by Muffy Fishbasket. - Local drag queen "Charlene Unger from Berwyn, Ill." will emcee the day's program and perform several musical numbers alongside the Ungertones. Additional performances include the Lakeside Pride Marching Band and Louder Than A Bomb poetry reading. - In the evening, Precious Davis will commence Chicago's Big Fat Gay Wedding, the largest same-sex wedding in the city, as she officiates of series of marriage ceremonies for LGBTQ couples along the South Dock along the backdrop of Lake Michigan ad the Chicago skyline. Interested couples can bring their marriage certificates and get legally married at the Pier. - Live entertainment will continue throughout the evening at the Miller Lite BeerGarden, and the festivities will conclude with a special dance performance and disco-themed firework show.
