In space no one can hear you…orgasm! That’s just one of the fantasies Neil (TEEN WOLF’s Michael Johnston) pours into his slash fiction – erotic fan fiction focused on same sex fantasies. Neil, an awkward but adorable high school freshman questioning his sexuality, keeps his writing to himself and is mortified when his classmates discover his secret. But he suddenly finds a kindred spirit in the confident and cool Julia (Hannah Marks, THE RUNAWAYS, AWKWARD, NECESSARY ROUGHNESS), who also writes fan fiction. Recognizing Neil’s talents, Julia convinces him to post his stories anonymously online. This draws the attention of the site’s administrator, Denis (WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER’s Michael Ian Black) who invites Neil to read live at an upcoming convention and begins an online flirtation with him, unaware of his age. Neil’s fantasies and crushes have focused on men so he’s confused when he finds himself drawn to Julia as the convention draws near. Camp re-enactments of Neil’s gay sci-fi fantasies are a hilarious and lusty highlight of this wonderfully winsome and charming debut film from writer-director Clay Liford that delightfully explores the boundaries of space…and sexuality.
