Gay Games Chicago 10th anniversary party
The Pride Action Tank hosts a special fundraiser celebrating the 10th anniversary of Gay Games VII, which was held in Chicago July 15-22, 2006. A percentage of the sales of MillerCoors products will benefit Pride Action Tank and the AIDS Foundation of Chicago. Also, attendees can purchase raffle tickets during the event to win backstage passes to Northalsted Market Days, Gay Games VII memorabilia, a guided tour of Chicago's Legacy Walk for up to 10 people, bar swag and much more. Raffle tickets are 2 for $5 or 6 for $10. This event is free and open to the public. Gay Games VII attracted nearly 12,000 athletes from 70 countries, with Opening Ceremony at Soldier Field and Closing Ceremony at Wrigley Field. The event brought in millions of dollars to the local economy, and helped strengthen LGBTQ organizations, especially athletic teams and associations. Some of the key Gay Games organizers are part of the new Pride Action Tank, which is working on LGBTQ intersectional issues including youth homelessness, transgender equality and safety issues. During the event, there will be a display of the history of Gay Games VII and queer athletes presented by the Gay Games VII planning committee and the Legacy Project. This event is sponsored by Pride Action Tank, AIDS Foundation of Chicago, Windy City Times, The North End, The Legacy Project, Northalsted Business Alliance, TEAM TO END AIDS (T2 CHICAGO), and in partnership with MillerCoors.
