Freeheld
New Jersey police lieutenant Laurel Hester (Julianne Moore, THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PARTS 1 & 2, THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT) and her registered domestic partner, Stacie Andree (Ellen Page, INCEPTION, JUNO), both battle to secure Hester’s pension benefits when she is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Laurel’s health continues to decliine as she and Stacie fight for justice, aided by her supportive police partner (Michael Shannon, MAN OF STEEL, BOARDWALK EMPIRE) and a gay rights activist (Steve Carell, THE OFFICE, THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN). Also featuring Luke Grimes (50 SHADES OF GREY) and Josh Charles (THE GOOD WIFE), Peter Sollett (RAISING VICTOR VARGAS, NICK AND NORAH’S INFINITE PLAYLIST) directs this Academy Awar-winning and nominated cast. Based on the true story documented in Cynthia Wade’s critically acclaimed short film and scripted by Ron Nyswaner (Academy Award nominee, PHILADELPHIA), this is Moore’s follow-up to her Oscar winning Best Actress performance in 2014’s STILL ALICE. Screenwriter Ron Nyswaner is expected to be in attendance for Q&A following the screening
