Saugatuck Cures
Matthew Ladensack (US, 2014, 89 min) Maggie Calaghan (Judith Chapman, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS), a bed and breakfast owner in Saugatuck, Michigan, has fallen ill with a second round of cancer and can’t afford the exorbitant treatment. Her gay son Drew (Max Adler, GLEE) wants to raise money for her treatment, but can’t figure out how, until his eccentric best friend, Brett (Danny Mooney), decides their best bet is to pose as ex-gay ministers and cure homosexuals in unwitting churches around the Midwest. They hop on the “Hetero Mobile” and quickly fall into trouble with the law, Drew’s crazy religious conservative sister, and Drew’s own misgivings about their immoral adventure. Q&A w/ Matthew Ladensack (director) & Danny Mooney (actor) to follow screening
