Boys (Jongens)
Mischa Kamp (Netherlands, 2014, 78 min) Sieger, a shy, quiet 15-year-old, meets handsome and intriguing Marc while training for an intense running competition, and they quickly develop a friendship that threatens to turn into something more. Afraid of facing his growing feelings for Marc, Sieger hides from them by attempting a flirtation with Jessica and trying to mend things between his rebellious older brother, Eddy, and his father. As the national relay championships loom, however, he is thrown together with Marc and becomes increasingly distracted, making him worry that he will be unable to focus and ruin the team’s chance of winning. Showing with Short: THE LAST OF FALL (Peter Franco, US, 2014, 15 min) James, the star quarterback of his high school football team, hooks up with a teammate just before the state championship game. The boy urges James to honestly confront his sexuality, but amidst the pressures of high school, a scholarship, and a championship game he fears doing so will ruin his life.
