The Last Match (LA PARTIDA)

For Reinier, who lives on the fringes of Cuban society, having sex with men for money is simply a way to support his wife, child and mother-in-law. It’s also a way to feed his growing gambling addiction. But his aimless life takes an upward turn after Reinier meets Yosvani, who works a corrupt loan shark. Though his mother-in-law encourages him to fleece a wealthy male client, Reinier instead finds himself inexplicably drawn to Yosvani and the two begin an affair that quickly blossoms into love. In the ensuing weeks Reinier gets himself into serious trouble over his gambling debt to Yosvani’s boss but there’s a light at the tunnel when he finds himself in line to join a professional soccer team – a way out of the poverty stricken streets, but one that cannot possibly include Yosvani. Set against the bustling streets of Cuba, the choices the two young men make as the noose tightens will change the course of all their lives in this sex soaked romantic drama.
