Matt Alber with Strings Attached
On August 30th, 2012 four of America’s finest young cellists invited the Grammy award-winning gay recording artist Matt Alber and a team of local filmmakers to the The San Francisco Conservatory of Music to sing as they performed four new arrangements of his songs. The ink still wet on the page, Alber and the musicians locked hearts and bows while the filmmakers glided through a silent ballet capturing moments not even a front row seat could garner. Filmed in lush detail, Matt Alber with Strings Attached captures a magnificent collaboration and gives us a rare glimpse into the intimate creative process. Also Showing: REMEMBER TO BREATHE (Marc Saltarelli, USA, 2013, 26 minutes) A retired, legendary jazz chanteuse is encouraged by a music student to sit in at one of her club dates. But the chanteuse, lost in regrets over a lost female lover, isn’t sure she’s ready to rejoin the world. Lee Meriwether, Susan Blakely and Lee Larkin co-star in this nostalgic reverie that features both a tender performance by Meriwether and a rare example of her lovely singing voice. This screening of music-themed films will be followed by a live performance by Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Matt Alber.
