Israeli-born US citizen Alon Rosenfeld and his husband, Canadian-born Alessandro Tomassetti, spent over 13 years building a life and a small business together in the US. When Alessandro’s H1B Visa final extension expired with no permanent residency options available, they had no choice but to close their business, lay off their American employees, and leave the country they love in search of a home that recognizes its LGBT citizens as equals under the law. (In)Voluntary Departure takes an intimate look at the devastating effects of DOMA through the departure of Alon and Sandro as well as through the multi-national community that surrounded them and their business and asks the question...will our LGBT citizens return to the US after the defeat of DOMA?
