Free Fall
Director Stephan Lacant’s first feature has been called the German Brokeback Mountain for its portrayal of forbidden love between two police cadets – Marc (Max Reimelt, Before the Fall) and fellow male cop Kay (Hanno Koffler, Summer Storm). With a promising law enforcement career and his first child on the way, Marc’s life with his girlfriend (Katharina Schüttler) is going according to plan until he meets and unexpectedly falls for the free spirited Kay. The two begin jogging together and quickly a friendship forms. For the first time Marc develops feeling for a man and a passionate affair commences. Torn between the world he knows so well and the exhilaration of his new erotic adventures, Marc’s life rapidly spins out of control. In this state of free fall, it seems, Marc cannot make anyone happy anymore – least of all, himself. Queerty.com singled out the film’s “exceptionally hot love scenes (and full frontal nudity)” and hailed the film as, “A powerful dramatization of a passionate gay affair.” Jury award for Best Feature – Philadelphia Q Fest. Explicit.
