Chelsea (formerly Bradley) Manning: The Power of Pronouns

Does the media have an obligation to respect Manning's request that the public refer to Chelsea, her chosen name, and adopt feminine pronouns? Why or why not? Café Society, a program of The Public Square, is designed to foster a more robust civil society, more cohesive and interactive communities, greater media literacy, and a more informed and engaged citizenry through weekly coffee shop conversations about contemporary social issues.
