Stand Out: The National Queer Comedy Search is looking for the most hilarious queer and queer friendly comedians in America! Presented by Outloud Chicago, Advocate Magazine, Absolut vodka and Sidetrack Video Bar, Stand Out found 75 comedians from across the country who submitted and only 8 will compete live. Find out on Wednesday August 28th which 8 comedians advance to the live contest. From a wide submission search, 15 comedians have been picked for the elimination round on Advocate.com/comedy. The 3 comedians with the most votes will be locked into the live competition on September 24th and the rest of the contestants will be named at the viewing party at Sidetrack. After a hilarious night filled with comedy videos on the big screen including submissions from the contestants, all 8 contestants advancing to the live competition will be announced. Contestants will be chosen by voting from our media sponsors The Advocate Magazine, GoPride.com, TheLStop.org, InOurWordsblog.com and Nightspots magazine. The event will feature sampling and featured drinks from our friends Absolut vodka. The live portion will be hosted on Sept. 24 at 8:30 p.m by Queer Comedy at Zanies creator Adam Guerino and judged by Zanies booker Bert Haas, The Advocate comedy editor Jami Smith and The Chicago Reader comedy critic Molly Adams. First place winner will recieve $1,200, a headlining spot at Queer Comedy at Zanies season 4 opener ($800 value,) their headshot placed on the wall at Zanies comedy club and will be featured in The Advocate's comedy section — which is, of course, priceless. Second place winner will receive $750 and a feature story on GoPride.com, TheLStop.org. Third place winner will receive $250 and a feature story on InOurWordsblog.com. More prizes to be announced!
