Cloudburst

This sweepingly poignant and riotous comedy evokes virtuoso performances from Oscar®-winning actresses Olympia Dukakis (Moonstruck ) and Brenda Fricker (My Left Foot ). Stella (Dukakis), a brassy and crotchety rebel with a cause, and nearly-blind Dot (Fricker) have been together for 31 years. Now in their seventies, Dot’s neurotic granddaughter, Molly, decides that she’s putting Dot in a retirement home. In nothing less than a coup-d’état, Stella breaks her out of the nursing home and the two embark on a Thelma & Louise -style road trip to be legally married in Canada, picking up a young and impressionable hitchhiker along the way. With equal parts humor and grace and all the while battling the narrow minded, CLOUDBURST offers a touching examination of the true nature of commitment while celebrating the power of love against adversity.
