Explores the intricacy of children with developmental disabilities living in nursing facilities and state-run institutions. It includes interviews from parents, advocates, activists and elected officials and provides a condensed creative glimpse into the history of institutionalization in the U.S. Footage for the documentary spans over many different states, as it reveals a universal connection between the families’ stories. The event features a post-screening discussion with advocates from Access Living Chicago, including Adam Ballard and Amber Smock, who will discuss the issue of institutionalization of children with complex medical needs and disabilities in Illinois.
