Bashment
As a white boy from a farm town, it isn’t easy for J.J. to break into London’s urban music scene. Being gay doesn’t help either. Immersed in a world of racial tension, homophobia, and hate, Bashment pits novice MC J.J. up against The Ilford Ilmanics, a legendary rap group in the area. When J.J. decides to out himself in front of this hostile community, it leads to tragic repercussions. His boyfriend Orlando is so savagely beaten it results in brain damage. The Ilmanics are sentenced to prison while J.J. finds himself trapped at home taking care of the disabled Orlando. Haunted by guilt and longing for some resolution, J.J. decides to take part in a victim-reconciliation program and visits the Ilmanics in prison, but they are brutally unrepentant – until the day J.J. brings Orlando with him.
