This year marks 30 years since AIDS was first reported. We Were Here revisits the epidemic and how it affected the city of San Francisco in the early 1980s, through the voices of five individuals whose lives changed in unimaginable ways when their beloved city went from free love and social experimentation to the epicenter of a startling sexually transmitted plague. From their unique vantage points, the interviewees share stories that are not only intensely personal, but also revelatory in terms of the much larger themes of that era.
