Northalsted Market Days runs Aug. 9-10 on Halsted Street for six blocks between Belmont and Addison.

If you haven't heard of Mary Lambert, you undoubtedly caught yourself singing her lyrics.

"And I can't change. Even if I tried. Even if I wanted to. My love, my love, my love. She keeps me warm."

It's from Lambert's breakout collaboration "Same Love" with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, which thrusted her onto the singer/songwriter scene and in the LGBT spotlight. The out-lesbian and Seattle-native is headed to Boystown after dropping her second EP in December, the most recognizable song being "She Keeps Me Warm."

"I wanted to make the EP an introduction to who I am," Lambert told ChicagoPride.com. "I wanted "She Keeps Me Warm" on there. There was a push to have it in a collection of songs and to have it out and make a statement about who I am and what I do. "Sarasvati" is on there, too, and that's very confessional, a deeply emotional song to sing. "Body Love" is on there and that's an encompassing idea of what I do. They all speak to those different forms."

As for Lamberts performances, The Huffington Post describes them as shows "designed as safe spaces where crying is acceptable and even encouraged."

Mary Lambert performs the Roscoe Stage at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, August 10. Northalsted Market Days, which is organized by the Northalsted Business Alliance, runs Aug. 9-10 on Halsted Street for six blocks between Belmont and Addison. A $10 donation is recommended.
