On the first weekend after being given the green light for a return to limited indoor seating, Sidetrack and a number of Northalsted restaurants and bars opened their doors to customers.

Sidetrack, 3349 N Halsted, reopened on Saturday, Jan. 23, the same day Chicago moved to Tier 1 coronavirus mitigations.

“We knew this may be coming and have done our best to plan accordingly,” Sidetrack general manager Brad Balof told GoPride.com. “We remain committed to serving our amazing customers with unique and entertaining programming in safe and welcoming environment.”

Tier 1 mitigations allow restaurants and bars that serve food to seat customers inside at the lesser of 25% capacity or 25 people per room. Tables will be spaced 6 feet apart and parties may not exceed four people. Bars that don't serve food will have to keep their service outdoors for now.

Roscoe's Tavern, 3356 N Halsted, and Scarlet Bar, 3320 N Halsted, also opened for indoor service over the weekend. Big Chicks, 5024 N Sheridan, and Tweet, 5020 N Sheridan, will reopen on Monday, Jan. 25.

City bars and restaurants have been limited to outdoor service and takeout since October 30, 2020.
