Chicago’s premiere pride events remain on the June calendar

Organizers of LA Pride have postponed all events related to its 50th anniversary set to take place in June due to the coronavirus outbreak.

"Due to the concerns of COVID-19, CSW will postpone all events related to the 50th Anniversary of LA Pride that were scheduled for June 2020. Organizers are assessing the situation. More information to be provided around the postponement as details become available," organizers tweeted on Thursday.

The LA Pride parade and festival, which was scheduled for June 12 to 14, attracts tens of thousands of people to West Hollywood.

Miami Beach Pride was scheduled to take place from March 28 to April 5, but organizers have postponed all but a few symbolic events.

With Chicago's pride celebrations set to take place three months from now, organizers of the annual pride festival and parade told GoPride.com they continue to monitor coronavirus developments.

"We will continually monitor recommendations by the CDC, State of Illinois and City of Chicago to determine the viability of these events," the Northalsted Business Alliance, which organizes Chicago's pride festival, said in a statement.

The organization confirmed Chicago Pride Fest and Northalsted Market Days, which are scheduled for June 20 to 21 and August 8 to 9 respectively, remain on the calendar for now.

Chicago Pride Parade organizers, PRIDEChicago, said the June 28 parade remains on schedule.

GoPride.com will continue to provide updates on Chicago's pride month events.

Northalsted Business Alliance's full statement on the coronavirus:

"As the COVID-19 concerns continue to develop, we want to share with the community the extra effort in place by our businesses to provide safe and welcoming environments. The retailers, service providers, bars, restaurants and cafes are taking extra precaution based on CDC and WHO recommendations. Precautionary measures include intense cleaning procedures, ensuring sick employees remain at home and working with both employees and customers to adopt a vigorous approach to hand washing and other health safety initiatives.

"If you are sick, we ask that you please stay home. An excellent way to support Boystown businesses is through the purchase of gift cards, which can make a big difference for a small business in challenging times.

"We value our visitors and community and look forward to welcoming you to Boystown. At this time, our Chicago Pride Fest and Northalsted Market Days events are scheduled for June 20-21 and August 8-9 respectively. Both events remain on the calendar for now. We will continually monitor recommendations by the CDC, State of Illinois and City of Chicago to determine the viability of these events."
