The Creature from the Black Lagoon horror film dates back to 1954, but Homestead on the Roof, 1924 West Chicago Avenue, has taken inspiration from it in 2023.

For those not familiar, this rooftop restaurant is above Roots Pizza in West Town. It's a hidden gem with both indoor and outdoor spaces with seating for up to a hundred people.

Creators Kelsey Ramage and Erin Hayes have assembled a variety of decorations and treats for those who visit the venue this October. Chef Chris Teixeira and beverage director Julieta Campos have brought several menu items to life to accompany the festivities.

The sliders are so good that it's scary and delicious pizza prepared by their sister space are just some of the offerings this season.

Get the party started with an Eye of Newt drink made with cold brew coffee liqueur or Toe of Frog with rye whiskey. For nonliquor drinkers, there are Ritual Zero Proof offerings including Boo-Levardier concocted with a whiskey alternative or sip on a spirit-free Crystal Flesh mix of gin alternative.

When the lights go out the place grows creepy with fun decorations and lights. The Black Lagoon popup needs more water features, but overall, it is a fun place to haunt at night. Climb the steps for a creepy good time above the city!

Swim over to the Black Lagoon's before it's too late on October 31, 2023, and visit homesteadontheroof.com for more information.
