Lirica is the first Latin-inspired venue, at 900 E. Grand Avenue on Navy Pier, and it is frankly about time. The People's Pier has been a longtime destination for tourists from around the world and having a new restaurant with strong, Latin flavors should have many patrons feeling right at home while visiting.

Food brings people together and Lirica has that approach right from the early concept. A friendly, open kitchen greets guests by the dining room and modern decor throughout is certainly attractive in the elegant venue. A private party space and outdoor options on the patio creates an environment for all to enjoy.

Chef Cesar Reyes and Chef Michael Shrader have assembled a menu that is rooted in culture as well as flavor. In general, the cuisine is influenced by Spanish, Mexican, Portuguese and Carribean traditions. The Iberian Peninsula has also been factored in to the mix of recipes using the cooking traditions of Spain.

There is a strong sense of seafood throughout the choices that range from small and big plates to family style options. Dive in to yellowfin ahi tuna or the ceviche de pargo y camarones that will have your taste buds popping in no time.

Try the pescado frito of three beer battered tacos with shaved cabbage and lime crema. If you like trying something unique, the pollo frito is a Spanish fried chicken that has smoked morita chili peppers and Spanish Marcona almonds as part of the dish.

The costilla de Termera is named after a maritime town and reflects that in a whole beef short rib with a spicy, salsa verde. It can be ordered family style in one or two pound allotments.

Finish off your dining experience by ordering some crunchy churros or one of several seasonal desserts.

A 22-seat bar is available with a strong cocktail menu to accompany it that should welcome a nice, healthy crowd one day when safely possible. Guests staying at the brand new Sable hotel now have a place to dine before exploring what Chicago has to offer with a strong breakfast menu. Sample a variety of mojitos and margaritas get the party started. The Oaxacan old fashioned will have many dancing around the pier after sipping on Del Maguey Vida mezcal and Olmeca anejo tequila mixed together in the drink.

Beer and wine selections are mainly focused on Spain and Portugal to stand out from other establishments typical bar menus.

Lirica is Spanish for lyric and this talented hospitality team will be making beautiful music, as well as outstanding dishes, together for a long time to come.
