With the current situation in the world, diners are finding it hard to relax when dining out. Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurants are working around that problem and putting their loyal following's mind at ease.

The restaurant chain is still following local safety protocols and limiting the amount of patrons inside at any given time, but have also created a brilliant way around dining challenges these days. While the restaurant group would usually have a large scale event with a celebrity chef hosting a cooking class and wine tasting, times have changed during the pandemic of 2020. Instead of just cancelling or postponing events such as these, Cooper's Hawk went virtual recently in a fun way.

Prior to September 10, guests who registered for a virtual tasting on the Cooper's Hawk website were instructed to pick up a meal kit at the restaurant of their choosing. Packed in sturdy containers, there were a variety of offerings inside the carryout order prepared for a meal at home. Skirt steak, broccolini and fingerling potatoes were stowed inside the bag along with pretzel bread, condiments and wild blueberry limoncello buttercake for dessert.

Timed instructions helped even the worst cooks, such as myself, create an unforgettable meal. Starting off with a wine called Uncaged Spirit, in collaboration Z. Alexander Brown, set the tone for a relaxing evening and paired perfectly with the steak. For those that prefer a lighter wine, the Cooper's Hawk Rose was the answer with a fruity finish to it. Ticket holders could drink up and not have to worry about the commute of driving after partaking in either or both wines.

At the correct time, people from across the globe could tune into a Zoom call where Cooper's Hawk owner Tim McEnery and chef Mark McMillin kicked things off. The two joked and tasted wine together as we all waited for the Bravo Top Chef All-Star winner Richard Blais to pop into the call. While Blais wouldn't reveal what project he was currently filming, he was camera ready and full of humor.

First he used liquid nitrogen to make a cocktail, then he cooked the ingredients that all the Zoom watchers had at home. He played games and trivia while joking about Salt Bae. He answered questions from the audience and kept things moving right along. One lucky attendee was randomly selected to win a $100 gift card for Cooper's Hawk from a social media post.

The whole endeavor simply shows the team at Cooper's Hawk is thinking outside the box on how to run an event during a challenging time in America.

Carryout, curbside and delivery are all still available, but special promotions like these are an added bonus to experience the delicious cuisine and wine pairings offered at this high end establishment, but at home.

Visit CHWinery.com and sign up for the upcoming event with another Bravo Top Chef alumni Fabio Viviani on Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m. central time. Click under special events and follow detailed instructions to be a part of the next virtual party today!
