FREE BEER TOMORROW is a love letter to Jack's/Summit Station, Ohio's longest running lesbian owned and operated bar and the hub of the local lesbian community for over 40 years. Created by first-time filmmakers Julia Applegate and LuSter Singleton, who were longtime community members and former Summit Station patrons, the documentary is like a big family reunion with lasting shared memories retold with a big dose of humor. Interviewed are bar owner Peter Brown, a classically trained trumpeter whose part-time bartending job at Jack's A Go-Go in 1971 led her to buy the bar and rename it Summit Station, Rhonda R. Rivera, a pioneering LGBTQ+ lawyer and legal scholar, and former patrons running the gamut of tap dancers, professional women's football players, feminist activists, bartenders, and drag kings. The film explores lesbian culture in an era where bars were one of the few safe-havens from an oppressive and homophobic world. Join us for a live post-film discussion featuring directors/producers Julia M. Applegate and LuSter P Singleton, film subject Peg Bryant, story consultant Jenrose Fitzgerald, and cinematographer Mallory Golski, moderated by Reeling founder and Executive Director Brenda Webb. Bonus: Show up early! The first 40 people in line will get a token redeemable for a fresh pint of beer at Hopewell Brewing Company 's Logan Square taproom. Co-Presented by Hopewell Brewing
