Reeling: The Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival presents Boy Meets Boy.
Directed by Daniel Sánchez Lôpez
Cast: Alexandros Koutsoulis, Matthew James Morrison
Harry has been partying for 48 hours when he meets the blond twink Johannes on the dance floor of a club in Berlin. Amidst the glittering, frenetic action around them, the two share a tender kiss. With 15 hours until his flight home to the UK, Johannes offers to help him print his boarding pass. This mundane task leads to a day together wandering the city, upping the sexual tension between the two men as the day progresses. As the duo work their way toward their inevitable passionate coupling in bed, the contrasts in the lives and values of the two 20-somethings force each to confront their own truths. BOY MEETS BOY is the assured, reflective debut from Sánchez Lôpez, suffused with refreshing honesty and sensuality. It recalls other chance encounter queer movies, especially Andrew Haigh’s WEEKEND. Like that hallmark of LGBTQ cinema, BOY MEETS BOY spotlights the emotional mark often left behind after a brief, romantic encounter – and it will have audiences rooting for a hopeful outcome for the young lovers.
Available to stream in the U.S. only.
