Hansel and Gretel: How Hansel Became Hansel

The classic Brothers Grimm fairytale story we grew up reading, but with a new twist: Hansel was born a girl. At the end of April, the tap dancers of jorsTAP Chicago will take the not so typical stage in the Fulton Market to premiere Hansel and Gretel: How Hansel Became Hansel. While a full-length story production is new for the company, the performance will still be filled with the well-known and well-loved tap dance, artistic collaboration, and vibrantly creative atmosphere. With transgender identity issues being prevalent in today’s society, the company's intention for the show is to provide safe space for families from all across the Chicago-land area to come together, have a shared experience, and be more open to talking about transgender identity issues.
