Chicago for Chicagoans presents: Girls in Boystown a femme-focused, queer inclusive walking tour of Chicago’s Boystown. Girls in Boystown will be Chicago for Chicagoans second monthly walking tour – an information-packed 1.5-hour tour of the Boystown neighborhood featuring special guest collaborator Andie Mckenzie Meadows. Andie is a queer femme activist, Boystown historian, and photographer who will be contributing her totally unique, femme-focused and queer inclusive perspective on the history of the US's first officially designated gay neighborhood. Her documentary "Girls in Boystown" can be found on her website: andiemeadows.com Beginning at the Belmont Red/Brown Line stop, the tour will cover the history, architecture, and landmarks of one of Chicago's loudest and most colorful neighborhoods. The afternoon will end with a meal at Nookie's Tree and an extra-special after party at The Closet. Come learn something new about your place in space! Chicago for Chicagoans was founded by Patti Swanson as an initiative to familiarize local Chicagoans with the rich history of their own neighborhoods.
