For the first time in its 22 year history, the critically acclaimed publication New American Paintings—which showcases a juried exhibition-in-print with each issue—is presented as a physical exhibition at Elmhurst Art Museum (EAM) now through August 23, 2015. Jumping from the periodical’s pages to the Museum walls, New American Paintings: Midwest Edition features 40 artists selected by EAM Chief Curator Staci Boris from more than 400 submissions by artists from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin. The works in New American Paintings: Midwest Edition are diverse in style and subject, and in addition to paint on canvas, take the form of sculpture, installation and animation. Featured artists include Chicago artists Elijah Burgher, Lilli Carré, and Alex Bradley Cohen.
