Del Shores (Sordid Lives) returns to the screen with an adaptation of his award-winning 2000 play. Shores’ long running hit – filmed before a live audience – is the alternately hilarious and heartbreaking story of four Texas gay boys who grew up as born again Christians and the unique path each takes in coming to terms with their sexuality and the strict tenants of the church as they grow from wide eyed innocents to struggling teens to emotionally damaged adults. The individual stories of Mark, Benny, Andrew, and T.J. are intertwined with those of two hilarious and insightful barflies whose stories provide a counterpoint to those of the boys. Southern Baptist Sissies features an impressive cast, including Emerson Collins (Sordid Lives: The Series), Willam Belli (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Leslie Jordan (The Help, Will and Grace), Dale Dickey (Winter’s Bone, True Blood), Bobbie Eakes (All My Children) and Ann Walker (Sordid Lives, Big Gay Love).
