The LuLu Sessions

By turns wrenching and darkly humorous, The LuLu Sessions is a cinematic love letter by filmmaker S. Casper Wong to her life-long best friend LuLu Nutter, a celebrated cancer researcher who is dealt a harsh blow when she is diagnosed with end-stage breast cancer. Casper shoots LuLu’s last several years obsessively, wanting to capture every moment with the love of her life as they take several trips, and, ultimately, as LuLu checks into a hospice for her final months. Indefatigable to the very end, LuLu smokes, drinks, and curses into her deathbed. Though the premise seems bleak, The LuLu Sessions is anything but; LuLu is a flawed but absolutely inspiring woman, and the love shared by these two women is poignantly touching.
