Gay spouse inclusion will not be part of immigration bill

According to breaking news just released from Politico.com, Senate Judiciary Committee Patrick Leahy (D-VT) said he will withhold his amendment to the immigration bill that would allow gay Americans to sponsor their foreign-born spouses for green cards.

The Illinois House has just over two weeks to vote on SB10, or the Religious Freedom and Marriage Act, or the legislation is in danger of dying. If a vote does not take place by May 31, the end of the current session, supporters of the bill will essentially have to start from scratch.
