The awards will recognize outstanding achievements in the LGBT community of the greater Los Angeles area. Awards will be presented for 34 categories, each one honoring various organizations, businesses, events and individuals for their continuous commitment to excellence.

In previous year's numerous celebrities have donated their time by participating with this event as hosts and presenters benefiting various HIV/AIDS organizations. Some notable celebrities have included Niecy Nash from 'Reno911', Oscar writer Bruce Vilanch from 'Hollywood Squares', 'Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria, Kim Kardashian, Ian Murray and Alexandra Hall of 'Baywatch', actor Keanu Reeves, comedian Judy Tenuta, 'Sordid Lives' Jason Dottley, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton and comedic actress Julie Brown.

The evening will begin with a red carpet pre-show party followed by the awards dinner hosted by 'Sordid Lives' Leslie Jordan with non-stop entertainment & celebrity presenters. The post-show Governors Ball will be held in the world famous Playboy Mansion Grotto.

The Board of Governors extends an open invitation to the entire National LGBT Community to join the awards on March 8th and become a part of LGBT history.

Go LA! It's time for Chicago to have an upscale GLBT awards event. Yes, I know there's the presties and the hall of fame, but they're not really a great to-do outside of being a big bar party

I'm surprised these reputable celebrities are associated with this questionable affair. Its nomination and vote-counting procedures are far from transparent. There have been questions of conflict of interest. And despite its name, it has nothing to do with the city of West Hollywood.
