i was a jehova witness and i got disfellowshipped for having sex i think thats dumd but oh well i hate that religion

I WAS A JEHOVA WITNESSS SINCE TTHE AGE OF 3 I WAS RAISE AND THEN I MET A GUY WHO I FELT IN LOVE WITH BUT ONE OF MY SUPPOSBLY FRIEND TOLD ON ME AND I CONFESE THAT I HAD SEX WITH HIM I GOT DISFELLOWSHIPPED AND THE BROTHERS MAD STUPID COMMENTS THAT MY BOYFRIEND WOULD NEVER CHANGE. I STILL HAVEN'T BEEN ANNOUNCED UNTIL THIS FRIDAY BUT THEY SAID NOBODY KNOWS BUT THEIR WIFES HAVE IGNORE ME. I THOUGHT THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO KEEP THAT IN THE LOW. THEIR A FAKE RELIGION INSTEAD OF HELPING YOU THEY MAKE IT SEEM TO THAT PERSON ITS A HIT IT AND QUIT THING. THEY MAKE THE PERSON FEEL CRUMMY BY LETTING THE CHURCH KNOW THATS REALLY DISRESPECTFUL. THERE IS ALOT OF TWO FACES IN THEIR, BUT DON'T WORRY YOU GUYS ARE CLEAN KNOW AND YOUR CONCIENCE IS FINE. WE HAVE NOTHING TO HID SO THE CONGREGAION DOESN'T TALK TO US IT'S OK. ONLY GOD COULD JUDGE US WERE NOT PERFECT BEING GAY IS NATRUAL AS LONG YOU GUYS ARE HAPPY.

The tent isnt to make you not come back but to change your ways,just like a parent that has laws and rules to fellow and we are punished for our bad ways,its the same differance.

It's amazing how a lack of correct information will make people come to wrong conclusions. The fact is this: the only people that are disfellowshipped as Jehovah's Witnesses are ones who have WILLINGLY chosen to get baptized as such. No one is made to do this, and it is not a meaningless ceremony done to babies. In fact, each person who chooses to be baptized is questioned so as to see that they are in agreement with the scriptual guidelines that Jesus and the Apostles laid out in regards to morality and dedication to Jehovah God. I feel badly for these two guys as I do for anyone who has been disfellowshipped. But the fact is, for this to of happened, they must of went through the act of dedication to Jehovah and baptism. They must of had some inclination that they didn't want to live their lives according to Bible standards at the time of their baptism. If they had not been baptized, no announcement would ever have been made. Oh, and LaTina who posted above, I think your heart's in the right place, but "Yall need to repent and you will be forgiven" is a little untactful and is not going to soften many hearts.

Steven J, you bring up some very good points. I have one question, is it strictly the Bible standards or the standards explicitly written the Watchtower publication that Jehovah's Witnesses must adhere to?

The Bible clearly states that relations with the same sex is a sin. This isn't a church being discriminatory, it's not religion being discriminatory, this is God's own words. You can't be a true Christian and be gay, just as you can't be a true Christian and be a female preacher. It's just not Biblical--the qualifications for preaching according to 1Tim3, refers to a MAN, not a woman. Also keep in mind the JW's are taught only what their elders tell them is "the truth". And for you JWs who are reading this--remember this: God is UNCHANGING.. His LIGHT NEVER CHANGES... I hear many times in my reverse witnessing attempts that "the light is shining brighter as the time gets closer". I don't recall the verse off-hand, but the Devil presents himself as the light. Only the Devil will change his light as the times grow nearer b/c, as I mentioned above, God is UNCHANGING.. therefore the light you see that "is getting brighter" can not possibly be God.

God is love. JWs cannot deny that. However, disfellowshipping in their way is NOT love. Even Peter (or was it Paul?), who told his brethren to not eat with the brothers who were comitting sins, did not stop loving them, did not stop associating with them. He instructed his brethren to continue to preach to them as if they did not know God. He did not ostracize former members of the congregation.

Remember why Jesus taught in parables? "so those who see, can not see, and those who hear would not hear" ... I challenge any JW to sit and read the Bible, WITHOUT publications to guide their thoughts. It is the Holy Spirit who imparts wisdom, not the WTS, and you will feel the Spirit when you set aside the religious propaganda and think for yourself (in religious terms). God gave us the gift of freewill for a reason--so that we would choose to see his words for what they are.

We read the bible everyday Mellisa, i suggest you get your facts straight before you start assuming otherwise. We would do perfectly fine without our publications. They are merely discussions of what we read in the bible.

I have a question. How many cults go door to door to share their beliefs worldwide? Did Jim Jones and David Koresh do that? So many people are quick to jump on the bandwagon to say the JW's are a cult, when they don't know the meaning of the word. We live in a world that has tolerated too much and dicipline goes out the door. If all churches stuck to the guidelines of the bible wouldn't we have a true Christian Church? hi my name is craig white im 12 and im not a jw but i do attend the kingdom hall sometimes my mom and her brothers and sisters and her mom were in the truth they were raised in the truth and now my mom does not fully attend the metings although we do go to the memorial and the asembly.jeahovah has really blessed us so much and i thank him for that jeahovAH is our and my refuge i love him dearly but guys lets not get fustrated im not here to deabt but jeahovah does a lot for us he is real the real deal he is amazing he suplies us with a beautiful earth and all of our other needs jeahovah is defenently my savior i love himm so much for him letting me have this twelve years on earth wen im skared i pray to him and evrything clears up jeahovah helps us and me in many ways and if yur gonna talk about him let iiit be in a gud way bcause he does alot for us and the least yu kan do is show sum apreciation

There are plenty of Jehovah's Witnesses who are gay in orientation and who live chaste celibate Christian lives.

Hello. There's a lot of controversy around this web page for two reasons. Homosexuality and Religion. Both are two serious issues. Here's where I stand. First off, anyone's sexual preference is their choice. The problem comes in when a person becomes disrespectful toward anothers choice to remain heterosexual. For example, if someone who's gay decides to approach someone of the same sex, who they know is not homosexual, there lies the problem. Live and let live I say. But stay in your zone please. To those who oppose gays, that's their choice, and you should be respectful of their decision, and vice versa. I have gay friends in school. That neither underminds or questions my manhood. I know where I stand. Those with insecurities feel threatened.
One of my sisters is a lesbian, and did'nt grow up that way or nothing. It was a shock to almost everyone. But if she's happy i'm cool with it. I've come a long way though guy's and gal's. I didn't always feel like this. Why? I was raised to reject these people. Which brings me to the other topic. RELIGION. I was raised as one of JW's and we are taught to disagree with one's sexual preference if it does not coincide with the holy bible. Guess what. I eventually grew up and start making my own desicions. These are people you work with, share a neighborhood with, and could be, (like in my situation) your relatives. Check this out. I was baptized at 12 and disfellowshipped at 18. Not because someone said I was having sex before marriage, involved in illegal activity, gay, or anything. I chose not to be apart of an organization that judges everyone not affiliated. Their views on things are screwed up and so are a lot of people that come out of this religion, because of brainwashing. Their non-human philosophy can ruin a life and destroy a family. Take it from someone who has been there. A little kid, 12 y.o. posted a comment on 8-30-08, who reminds me alot of myself when I was his age. My heart goes out to him because one day he'll have to think for himself, and he's heading down the wrong path. It's really sad ya'll. Later.

For ALL: Hi I just wanted to briefly say that a lot of you are wrong about JW's I know a lot of them and I have had a bible study in the past for many years and currently attend there Kingdom Hall.
For Diesel115- It's not brain washing and of all people being baptized in the past you should know that JW's do as the bible says the people of the congregation and the magazines and books just support and simplify the bible because it is difficult to read and they also give examples from now days on how we can live our lives as true Christians who follow the bible. There is no brain washing like someone here said God gave us free will and it is up to you to follow God’s way or Satan’s way. Just as he gave Adam and Eve free will and they failed and decided to go with Satan, and because of there mistake they were punished.
Satan is the ruler of this earth right now as we see all of the wars, hatred (as in this blog), adultery, fornication, murders, thief’s. Satan is attacking all day and night we have to be strong. If we are weak he will attack more.
JW’s disfellowship when you don’t repent, honest repent from your heart. As the people above mention that what they did sleep with same sex and fornicate is not wrong, then they never repented and that is why they were punished and as I sadly read what they write above they have still not asked for forgiveness of there sins it seems like they are proud of the sins they committed. They are letting Satan win.
If the JW’s also forgive without repenting like some other religions than we would have a chaotic religion like others and you would also be called two faced. God doesn’t like two-faced people. He is a forgiving God but you have to do your part as well. He forgives and forgives and will keep forgiving but you have to repent and truly mean it. All of these answers are in the bible so lets end this discussion and read your bibles all your questions will be answered there that is why God had the bible created it is a manual for everyone on how to be a good person, how to be a great spouse, how to be a great mom and how to be a great son/daughter, talks about the hard times and talks about what our purpose here is on this earth and why Jehovah God created us and what we have to look forward to in the future. You will all be much Happier & Content living the way God intended us to live. He will give you more satisfaction that Satan’s pleasures: (wars, hatred, adultery, drugs, fornication, murder, theft, and the biggest one is you doubting God).

I was a JW for years and I don;t know why there are JW's posting on here at all, you're ony shaming yourself. The JW are a cult. Religion by the most basic description is a cult. JW have taken it to the brink of legal in thier attempts at control and the lack of outside influence or knowledge makes the JW populous unreliable for a fact based discussion. When you are raised that you will die unless you always beg and fight for forgiveness you will have the severe problems that effect the relgion. JW have a EXTREMELY HIGH rate of mental illness combined with poverty. There is no "willingly accepting baptism in the name of Jehovah" for those raised in the religion for if you chose "not to willingly" move toward baptism, you are shunned the same. I raised helathy children away from this cult and have nothing to do with my parents for over a decade. Thank god I am free. Thank god my children will never know this cult or the judgment associatted with personal assumptions and thier lives dictated by opinions. I left based on doctrine. I looked up information not JW and for that I am an apostate. The unforgivable sin because I questioned THIER bible, THIER beliefs, the only beliefs I ever thought growing up were true. The greatest strength you can find in ones self is to question that which you took advantage of as fact.

For those who call Jehovah's Witnesses a cult - i suggest you look up any dictionary and really find out the meaning of the word cult. If we are called a cult for following Jesus Christ, then fine but being called a cult because some so called famous person says so is utter rubbish. With regards to disfellowshipping, this applies ONLY to those who are dedicated and baptized witnesses and only if they are not repentent for any serious wrong doing. How come no one makes any ruckus when someone is sacked from a firm or organization for doing things againts the norm ??? thousands are being sacked from work for being lazy, thiefs etc..

I'm a recovered JW and unlike a lot of people on this page I don't hate the religion. It's a terribly emotionally unhealthy way of life and they do try to cut their members off from the rest of society, claiming that it is for their own good, much as a cult typically does. I feel pity for the people who are blinded by the religion because I used to be one of them. I'm just thankful that I finally had the strength (I guess it was more like weakness...kind of like killing cancer, you have to get almost to the point of death and then rebuild a fresh and healthy life from there) to get out of it. I thought that they were the only people who would ever be true friends and "worldly people" were bad people. Happily, I found out what real friends are like who actually love you for who you are and not because you meet certain criteria that they value.

THERE IS NO POSITON GREATER THAT BEING ONE OF JEHOVAH'S FRIENDS WHO HE ALONE CAN GIVE YOU EVERLASTING LIFE IF AND ONLY IF YOU WORK HARD AT LIVING YOUR LIFE ACCORDING TO HIS WORD. JEHOVAH DOESNT EXPECT PERFECTION BECAUSE HE KNOW THAT WE ARE IMPERFECT BUT HE EXPECTES US TO FIGHT AND FIGHT HARD AGAINST THE THINGS THAT SATAN HAS TO OFFER. AND THOSE THINGS THAT SATAN HAS TO OFFER IS ONLY SHORT LIVED AND DOES NOT BRING US HAPPINESS.

And tomthumb thank you I am 21 and dissfellowshiped and have been for about two years this is the second time I've been disfellowshipped I hope everyone reads yer post to get a proper view of disfellowshiping!

This is stupid. I'm disfellowshiped...2nd time...been almost 10 years. I know what it was like to not know anyone else that was attracted to the same sex. I know the social 'fear,' and all that. I know the unbearable need that came from being young and self-isolated. But Steve is right, we got baptized because, at the time, it was, (or should not have been to fit in,) because we loved Jehovah and wanted to please him.

I know that strictly speaking, IF all of Jehovah's Witnesses matured and thought as they are directed to, there wouldn't be any of the social stigma that comes from being gay. Never does the bible condemn a person for having same-sex tendencies anymore than it condemns them for being angry. All it says is it is in your best interest to not act indecently because of them. (Since cross-dressing was specifically condemned in the Mosaic Law, I guess being an activist for gender-bending would count here as indecent.) And since ALL fornication, regardless if it is hetero or homo, is scripturally unacceptable, those who practice it, or as in my case those that repeatedly neglected to protect themselves, cannot say they are being Christ-like, or remain part of the congregation till such time that they get their act together and take the time to demonstrate that they mean it.

As a side note, RARELY have those in the congregation, even those that had an idea what I was discipled for, treated me with disrespect, the social shunning was nearly always presented indiviually as 'tough love.' But then I didn't make a point of trying to get people to dishonor Jehovah's arangement for my discipline.

None of us are prevented from making amends. King Manassah who practiced child-sacrifice among other things was taken into exile. When he changed his attitude he was not only returned to Israel but he even regained his position of oversight. Nothing stops any of us from making amends but our attitudes and our drawing away from Jehovah. As long as there is time favorable for it, any of us can heal that breach. Now that I'm nearly there, I'm not likely to post here again. I might request access to Phil's domain when I'm reinstated. Idk yet.

IF YOU THINK SO VISIT A KINGDOM HALL DURING THE WHOLE MEETING YOU USE THE BIBLE TO GET THE UNDERSTANDING NOT JUST LISTENING TO WHAT SOMEONE SAYS...DISFELLOWSHIPPING IS A LOVING THING BECAUSE IT CLEANS THE CONGREGATION & JEHOVAH'S NAME CLEAN BECAUSE HE IS A LOVING & CLEAN GOD.

The true religion would be know by their love? I saw no love and that's why I left. I'm not gay but I know how it feels to be kicked out. I grew up a JW and I will tell you they make you fear losing all your friends and family more than Jehovah. I served as a regular pioneer for 2 years. During that time I saw many changes in the Elders. I was told that i needed to lose weight to ever expect to get married because I looked lazy. I am a little over weight but not fat. A girl I knew who was 16 at the time was being harassed by a 32 year old man. She went to the elders and they said it was he fault. They never even spoke to the man about his conduct of calling leaving rude sexual messages on her home phone at 2 in the morning. So I stopped showing up to meetings... did they call to see what was going on? NO. When I told them I no longer wanted to be a JW did they try to find out why? NO! They stocked me following me to my work and told me I was no longer welcome. After growing up being told that these were the men that were shepherding the flock and helping the ones that were weak I was left with more pain from them then comfort. If you are a Jehovah's witness and you have any doubt do research and look for the truth. I asked some hard questions no one could answer and all I got was that I was that I should have faith that in time there would be more info... I'm glad I left because now I am truly happy with my life.
