Madison, WI — Aaron Rogers, a popular radio DJ and online content director at Madison's Z-104, used the occasion of National Coming Out Day on Oct. 11, to announce to listeners that he is a proud gay man.

Katie Kruz, Rogers' fellow on-air personality at the Clear Channel station, set up the conversation: "It's been 25 years and I think it's time you had something to say," she said.

"I just wanted to say for the past 25 years in the past and in the future, I'm coming out today as an openly gay man," Rogers said. "Things have changed so much over the past five years since I came out to my parents. ... For anyone listening right now, know that you are not alone and that it's okay to feel the way that you do. Life is very short. Know that you are loved, appreciated, and respected by more people than you realize. It really does get better, and you have my support always."

"We're so very proud of you," Kruz said. "I think it's amazing, we're proud of you and we love you."

The two have worked together on the air for over the year. Kruz described Rogers as a mentor to gay men in Madison who has made a big difference in many lives through his affirmation and support.
