Chicago, IL — CNN anchor Anderson Cooper on Friday won $50,000 on Jeopardy!, which he donated to the Trevor Project.

California-based The Trevor Project focuses on crisis and suicide prevention efforts for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth. The non-profit's Lifeline is the nation's only 24-hour, toll-free confidential suicide prevention hotline for gay and questioning young people.

Cooper competed against Thomas Friedman, columnist for The New York Times, and Kelly O'Donnell, White House correspondent for NBC, during the game show's Power Players week.

It was Cooper's third appearance on Jeopardy!

"The first time I did really well," Cooper said in a pre-show interview, "It was against Maria Bartiromo, Kweisi Mfume and a power player. And I destroyed them. That made me very confident. My second one I went into very confident and I got destroyed. It was crushed by Cheech Marin."

After winning, Cooper said he was going to add that he's a Jeopardy! champion to his business card.
