Boystown-area bar investigated for discrimination

Chicago, IL — The story of a Boystown-area bar banning female customers after 11 p.m. became the topic of discussion Monday on Chelsea Handler's show.

In a Huffington Post report by Joseph Erbentraut, which was also published on ChicagoPride.com last week, it was revealed the Illinois Department of Human Rights was investigating Wang's for their "men only after 11 p.m." policy.

"So they want wangs only after 11," Handler joked on Chelsea Lately airing Monday on E! The roundtable then took on the subject.

Wang's, located at 3317 N. Broadway just off the main Halsted St. strip of Boystown, is attached to Wakamono, the sushi restaurant next door. Both are owned by Henry Chang, who also owns the popular hotspot pingpong located across the street.

The bar's management has denied that it discriminates against women.

I think the "after 11pm, no women allowed" policy should still be enforced!!!

Amazing that this bar owner has the temerity (and non-functioning brain cells) to put that bigoted and illegal policy on a visible sign. Black customers at too many bars, in years past, would be faced with a doorman who simply dished out harassment over our ID's or blatantly refused us entry. The more things change, the more they remain the same. Go figure.

SO much for America.. being able to do what you want as a business owner! Any business owner has the right to allow and serve who they want... that's what makes America- AMERICA!! I've been rejected from entering a bar because I had a sinus infection! Straight strip clubs for women do not allow men in them, also lesbian bars to not allow men in them. I say GO FOR IT Wang's!!! Next women will be wanting to go to bathhouses... and would you want that?? I'm sure then it would be a different story!
