Washington, D.C. — Former "Growing Pains" star Kirk Cameron is facing a growing furor over his comments that homosexuality is "unnatural" and "detrimental."

Cameron made the comments during an interview with Piers Morgan on CNN.

Cameron is a born-again Christian who hosts an evangelical show called "The Way of the Master." He has also appeared in evangelical movies including "Left Behind: World at War."

"I think that [homosexuality] is unnatural. I think it's detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization," he said."

He also said he was opposed to gay marriage.

"In this interview, Kirk Cameron sounds even more dated than his 1980's TV character," GLAAD fired back.

i am a christian and kirk cameron is a lunatic! he is nuts...just crazy! i have seen his so called christian street ministry show which consists of harassment and bullying, going out into the streets sticking cameras in peoples faces and asking them questions, and then becoming interrogaters by finding something wrong with any answer they get and screaming at people that they are going to burn in hell!!!!!!! only his interpretation of scripture is correct in his mind! oh ya i could so feel The Christ like Love ...NOT!!!!!! but Christ did warn that many false prophets would come in his name! Kirk sadly has become one of those!

Okay, I am NOT justifying what Cameron said and I 100\u0025 disagree with but, if you know anything about him you know that he is a VERY conservative evangelical Christian. He's also, I daresay, an entertainer. So, if he can stoke the fires that are currently out there regarding gay marriage, it only helps him keep his name out there.

Oops...wasn't finished. Anyway, while we may disagree with him and need to work hard to change people's minds against this kind of understanding of Christianity/religion, I wish we could do it in a way that rises above and shows what Christianity is really about - loving God and loving others with the heart of Jesus. Judgment is not ours but, lest we think any of us are above it, sounds like we are judging him too. What's the best way we can show the Jesus' some of us believe in? Just thinking.

I agree with Kirk. It is ultimately destructive to society as a whole. The bible verses condemn homosexuality and practicing it. It is a sin and god did not intend human beings to turn to being gay. He is an enlightened person and should not be knocked for saying his own views. A lot of people have views about being a homosexual and everyone has a right to have a voice. I also agree and can see that he does not want to hurt or hate any people including homosexuals. To me homosexuality is loosing your way against God
