Los Angeles, CAChristopher Street West (CSW), the nonprofit organization that produces the annual Los Angeles PRIDE celebration in West Hollywood, is seeking nominations for 2012 Community Honorees.

CSW is looking for people in the LGBT community who are deserving of this recognition.  All nominations must be submitted by 5:00pm on Friday, February 3, 2012.

According to a statement issued by CSW, "Each year, honorees who reflect our diverse community are selected for their demonstrated commitment to equality, human rights, empowerment and overall contributions to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community."

Past honorees have included transgender activist Valerie Spencer, the youth of the Gay Straight Alliance Network, MAC Cosmetics, Margaret Cho, legendary activist Ivy Bottini, Asian Pacific Islander Equality Los Angeles (API Equality), television host Jane Velez-Mitchell, Black AIDS Institute Founder Phil Wilson, Producer Glenne McElhinney and PFLAG.

The list of 2012 awards, nomination information and submission forms are available on the newly refreshed LA PRIDE website.  Nominations must be received no later than 5:00pm on February 3, 2012.  If you have questions or would like further information about the LA PRIDE Community Honorees, please email honorees@LAPRIDE.org.

The Los Angeles PRIDE parade and festival takes place June 8-10, 2012 in West Hollywood.

"Beyond the parade, 3-day festival and numerous month-long Pride cultural celebrations, the selection of the Community Honorees is among the most significant aspects of LA PRIDE," said Sue Sexton, CSW Board Secretary.  "For those who have been honored each year, it is a deeply felt personal triumph.  And there's no better way to feel empowered and appreciated by the community than being an honoree in the parade!"
