Rosie and Kellie to be Presented with "Family Tree" Award

Los Angeles, CA — The Family Pride Coalition is pleased to announce that Rosie and Kelli O'Donnell will receive the Family Pride Coalition's "Family Tree" Award for their work in advancing the rights of lesbian and gay couples and families.

Family Pride will also honor Wells Fargo with the Corporate Community Responsibility Award. The awards will be presented on October 2 in Los Angeles at the Family Pride Coalition’s first awards dinner celebration.

Kelli O'Donnell is a former Nickelodeon marketing executive, and is a co-founder of R Family Vacations, a travel company serving the LGBT family community. Rosie O'Donnell is an award-winning entertainer, and the founder of the For All Kids Foundation, Inc. Both have been outspoken advocates for LGBT equality, particularly around issues of parenting and marriage. They are the parents of four children.

"The Family Tree Award was designed to recognize excellence and leadership on behalf of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender parents and their families," said Aimee Gelnaw, executive director of the Family Pride Coalition. "No one family has done more to raise the visibility of lesbian and gay parents than the O'Donnell's. They continue to shine a light on the issues LGBT parents face in this country.

"Their dedication to our overall movement for full equality and to other families like theirs is matched only by their devotion to their own family," Gelnaw said. "We are thrilled to have this opportunity to thank them and honor them for all they have done."

"We are honored to accept the Family Tree Award," the O'Donnell’s said. "Tolerance starts in the home, but must have community reinforcement. That is why we are proud to be working with the Family Pride Coalition. All families are entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

Wells Fargo will be honored for its ongoing leadership in advancing equality for the LGBT community, and for creating non-discriminatory workplace policies that have influenced other corporations to adopt similar policies.

"Wells Fargo has a long history of supporting the community, and we are thrilled to recognize their contributions," Gelnaw said. "As an organization committed to equality for LGBT parents and their families, we look forward to working with Wells Fargo on issues of great importance to us both."

Tickets for the event are $175 per person and $250 for VIP tickets. There are a limited number of seats available. For more information or to purchase tickets, please call (202) 331-5015.
