Los Angeles — There's a new Spider-Man in town: Michael Morales is half-black, half-Hispanic -- and he might be gay.

The Morales character was introduced in Marvel Comic's "Ultimate Fallout" Issue #4, which was released on Wednesday.

"Michael Morales in a nerdy kid from Brooklyn," said Marvel's Axel Alonso on CNN. "One way that Michael Morales is different from Peter Parker is that his parents are still alive. Unrequited love might factor into this picture."

The gay part of the character is a rumor based on a comment from Spider-Man artist Sarah Pichelli: "Maybe sooner or later a black or gay or both hero will be considered absolutely normal."

Alonso didn't address the gay rumor on CNN, but he did say: "Marvel has always prided itself on its diversity."

This doesn't mean that Peter Parker is dead, by the way. The Morales character lives in an alternate universe.
