New Multi-Million Dollar Restoration Annouced by Broadway in Chicago and Lasalle Bank

Chicago, IL — Chicago-headquartered LaSalle Bank offered a major boost for Broadway In Chicago today with a plan to restore the historic Shubert Theatre.

In a relationship with Broadway In Chicago, Lasalle Bank and the City of Chicago plan to spend millions of dollars to restore the venerable theatre at the Majestic Building, 22 West Monroe, which possesses a long legacy in Chicago.

The theatre, which first opened on New Year’s Day in 1906 as the Majestic Theatre then was re-named the Shubert Theatre in 1945, will now be inaugurated the LaSalle Bank Theatre at the Majestic Building.

The restoration will focus on bringing back the theatre’s original finishes and décor.  The long-term agreement ensures the Shubert Theatre will provide another beautiful venue for live entertainment along with its sister theatres, the Cadillac Palace and the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre.

The theatre should reopen late next year.
